POPPY SEEDS KHEER

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp rice
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups mashed jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp crushed almonds
  • 1 tbsp crushed pistachios

  • METHOD
  • Soak poppy seeds and rice for 3-4 hours
  • Grind them in to fine paste
  • Bring water to boil
  • Add mashed jaggery and let it melts, stirring continuously
  • Add the paste and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously
  • Add milk and cardamom powder
  • Let it boil for 3-4 minutes
  • Garnish with nuts
  • Serve hot
